PLAYER↴ Name: ten Contact: plurk; tenages Other Characters: n/a CHARACTER↴ Character Name: Blue Diamond Age: Immortal Species: Gem Canon: Steven Universe Canon Point: The Trial (presuming this is not too soon..) Character Info: Here Personality: Blue Diamond is ... well, depressive. She struggles to hide it when she can, cloaking herself in regal serenity and gentleness whenever she can instead, leaving the ironfisted ruling to Yellow. But grief haunts her every hour; she considered herself very close to Pink Diamond, and her loss rocked her to the core. Even now, five thousand years later it hurts her as much as it did that very day. This pain keeps her motivated to preserving every bit of legacy Pink has remaining, and treating all things connected to it with a hands-off carefulness that even for her is above and beyond her comparatively merciful nature. Such a fondness does she have for nearly everything Pink had owned or touched that she even allows misshaped or off-color gems to remain in her service, providing roles for them to serve in when normally such defects and unuseful refuse would simply be destroyed and replaced. But she keeps them. All of them, from unneeded rambunctious amethysts to the human zoo and even the countless other rose quartzes caught up in their sister's rebellion simply by virtue of sharing a gem. And if Blue has her way, she'll never get rid of any of them. While she treats her court with dignity and respect, knowing each is chosen carefully, Blue hasn't entirely shaken off the harshness of the past. Faced with disrespect in turn, or unexpected surprises or worse things that anger her, the cold steel of her previous habits reveal themselves again, dealing swiftly and sometimes harshly with whatever it is that's piqued her temper. She still expects prompt obedience, and when she gets it she is a gracious ruler, but deny her her due and she turns affronted and hostile quickly. Although the diamonds made the laws and thus can remake them at whim, Blue feels obliged to uphold them as they are and do what's best for her people even if it's not particularly the best for her or for the individual, with very few exceptions. (Noteworthy exceptions: anything to do with Pink.) In spite of the grief and pain dogging her every step of the way, she does try her best to be fair in her dealings and not overwork or over-terrify her minions. They are however ... still minions; Blue does not assign the same level of personhood and value to an ordinary gem or human as she does a Diamond. She cares for them, but it is very much a proprietary caring. They are hers to maintain and care for and do well by, and in turn they serve her in a perfect cycle of dependency. But if she were to lose any one individual it isn't much of a concern.. she likely has another anyway. To keep her sorrow at bay, Blue practices calm and serenity. She doesn't feel it quite as often as she'd like to, but it gives a good example for her court and steadies her a little bit, at least until she has enough privacy to grieve as she will. Showing such weakness in front of her followers isn't allowed, for she must remain the untouchable and perfect diamond she is, worthy of worship and obedience.. to demonstrate the same pain they might feel at the loss of one of their own comrades would, she's certain, be disasterous. She has no real hobbies to speak of beyond collecting the last fragments of Pink's legacy, she simply doesn't have TIME. Running a third of an empire takes a lot of work, and she refuses to shirk her duty even through her grief. However she has slid a bit over time, allowing Yellow to comandeer more and more of Homeworld's best and brightest for her own purposes. While she's aware of it, Blue doesn't bother to bring herself to care. Yellow is helping in her own way, she's sure of it. Afer all, Yellow's been there for her since Pink's shattering, helping however she can.. There's probably info about White Diamond but they haven't given it to us yet so nope. In the game, Blue will have something she hasn't had in a long time: hope. This will keep her motivated to do her job and stick with it no matter how much she might dislike it or those she has to deal with. Abilities: Blue is a Diamond and a gem, which means various things, such as being utterly immune to poisons and toxins, not needing to breathe, not needing to eat, or sleep for that matter, put things in protective stasis-like bubbles, able to shapeshift to various other forms (though she can't hold them overlong, being waayyy out of practice), and as a diamond being nigh indestructable. Should her physical form be destroyed she can retreat into her gem to mend over time and simply regenerate sooner or later. Presumably she is capable of fusion but she is unlikely to try with anything but another diamond. She also has the ability to project her emotions onto others, forcing them to feel what she feels. This however requires intense emotion on her own part, and can't be done casually. If Blue has other powers, or a summoned weapon, or even a fusion, we have not seen them yet. CARNIVAL↴ Soul Colour: B...lue. Ideal Jobs: Something by way of administration or accounting. Or animal-keeping. Relevant Experience: Blue's been a cultural administrator for her entire existence, which has been in the order of five thousand years plus. And she does have that zoo.. Reason for Joining: She made a bargain. There are few things she wants MORE than to have Pink back, and to be offered a solid and reasonable attempt at mending the damage to her shattered gem in trade for a measly year of work is an offer she would have leaped at if she were the leaping sort. Although it's uncertain if the Ringmaster can heal that sort of damage, it's worth a try surely. SAMPLES↴ Sample! A diamond is not made to serve others in this fashion. A diamond is to be served. Blue stands at the entrance to the carnival, expression bemused, taking in her temporary fate and the place she'd be calling 'home' for the length of exactly one local year and one day. Her station demanded she rule this place, but instead she was to be nothing more than another menial servant, a humiliation and an insult as well. But she had made a deal. A little humiliation, a little ongoing embarassment, and in return.. In return the grief and pain may end. There was a very good chance of it, and that was enough. A precious light to hold onto in the face of what was sure to be an odious and unpleasant time. "...Well. The sooner begun, the sooner it's ended." She's out of place as she steps into the carnival and goes looking for her new and much diminished station, still regal, still serene, and wholly unlike a carnie should be. Even this one. Perhaps that too would change in time, given the peculiar look of all her new coworkers.. |
